“The project was so successful because we were challenged on a tight timeframe to understand the business objectives of the shareholders (doctors) and new corporate management in addition to understanding the IT infrastructure and how it related to the old corporate location. We not only met their timeframe goals but also minimized costs on a number of operational issues. For example, by evaluating their voice communications provider we saved them approximately ten thousand per year.” – Tom Jinks, Moore Colson Information Technology Director and IT Project Lead

If You Don’t Have Time To Be Sick,

Why Should Your Business…

Transitioning A Business And Ensuring

No Down Time

The Business Challenge
A medical practice now located in the Atlanta area, had an immediate need to become an independent practice thus separating from its original 60-physician practice in Columbus for market expansion opportunities in Atlanta. With only a 30-day period to become independent and operational with no down time, Moore Colson Information Technology (MCIT) was brought in to handle all aspects of IT transition management for 5 practice locations and a new corporate office.

The Solution
Because the typical transition management project requires at least a 90-day period, MCIT relied on its previous IT transition experience. In addition to time, geography was also a key factor. The complexity of the IT infrastructure (6 total locations) warranted the implementation of new practice management software which allowed all locations to rely upon the internet for scheduling of patients and surgery, coding of services, and billing of procedures.

By immediately bringing in their team of experts, MCIT was able to perform a number of IT functions including:
  • Acted as CIO
  • Developed short and long term strategic IT plans
  • Identified and fulfilled IT and support functions for new corporate office including private area networking, servers, workstations, switches, firewalls, security, routers, network software, internal and external email, Internet access, telephone support, Sharepoint intranet, electronic payroll including an electronic time clock system, Microsoft Business Solutions, Windows 2000 Server, and Great Plains Accounting
  • Transitioned systems/network/support functions from Columbus office to Atlanta office
  • Supervised daily IT functions
  • Assisted in recruiting full-time IT personnel
The Result
In addition to providing IT services, Moore Colson also served as a full service solutions provider by assisting with back office systems and banking/financing As a result, within a 30-day period, the client became a stand-alone practice with no downtime or business interruptions to the physicians thus allowing their business to run as a seamless operation. MCIT also continues to serve as an ongoing provider for strategic/practice IT expansion projects.
