Moore Colson, CPA, Promotes Five Firm EmployeesAtlanta,
Georgia (December 19, 2006) – Atlanta based accounting firm, Moore
Colson, CPA, recently announced promotions for five firm employees;
Lauren Simms was promoted to Tax Supervisor, Jonathan Levens was
promoted to Tax Senior Associate, Gary Frazier was promoted to
Business Assurance Senior Associate, Darlene Parker was promoted to
Business Assurance Senior Associate, and Billy Boyd was promoted to
Business Assurance Senior Associate. Moore Colson, founded in 1981,
is a full-service firm located in Atlanta, Georgia, providing tax
and assurance services, management consulting services, estate and
financial services, lender services and IT audit services.
Lauren Simms was promoted to Tax Supervisor in Moore Colson’s
Tax Services Practice. Lauren, CPA, works closely to prepare tax
returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, estates and
trusts. Lauren is also involved with tax planning for clients and
tax research. Prior to joining Moore Colson in 2004, Lauren worked
as a Staff Accountant for Gamble Givens & Moody, LLC where she
prepared individual, partnership and corporate tax returns and
performed audits and reviews. Lauren was recently the recipient of
the firm’s Peak Award for outstanding service.
Jonathan Levens, also a recent Peak Award winner, was
promoted to Tax Senior Associate in Moore Colson’s Tax Services
Practice. Jonathan served as a Tax Intern during the summer of 2004
and returned to the firm as a Tax Associate. Jonathan is a graduate
of the University of Georgia, Athens, GA with a Bachelor of Business
and a Masters of Taxation . He is a member of Beta Alpha Psi, the
National Scholastic and Professional Fraternity for financial
information students and professionals, and was a Peer Tutor for
Introductory Accounting students at the University of Georgia.
Jonathan was the recipient of the 2006 PricewaterhouseCoopers
Excellence in Corporate income Tax award. This accolade is presented
annually for the top student in corporate income tax classes at
Georgia State University.
Gary Frazier was promoted to Business Assurance Senior
Associate in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice. Prior to
joining Moore Colson in 2004, Gary was a Financial
Specialist/Assistant Branch Manager with Wachovia Bank North America
where he analyzed tax returns and financial statements for loan
applications and provided financial consulting to existing and
prospective clients. Gary is a graduate of Georgia State University
and holds a B.B.A. in Finance and Accounting. Gary is a member of
the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Darlene Parker was promoted to Business Assurance Senior
Associate in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice. Prior to
joining Moore Colson in 2005, Darlene worked as an audit intern at
Moore & Cubbedge in Marietta, Georgia, where she prepared financial
statements, assisted in inventory counts and performed audit
procedures for cash, liability and fixed assets. Darlene is a
graduate of Berry College with a Bachelor degree in Accounting and
Finance, 2004. Darlene is a member of the Georgia Society of
Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants. Darlene was also a past nominee for the firm’s
Peak Award.
Billy Boyd was promoted to Business Assurance Senior
Associate in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice. Billy joined
the firm as an associate in 2005. Prior to joining Moore Colson in
2005, he performed two summer internships for Smith Barney, where he
regularly worked to record and deposit various payments and filed
and maintained client records and distributed stock wire to brokers.
Billy received a Masters of Professional Accountancy, 2004 from
Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Business
Administration-Accountancy, 2003, from the University of Georgia.
Billy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Billy was also a past nominee for the firm’s Peak Award.
