Moore Colson Hires Tax Manager
Atlanta, Georgia (November 7, 2007) – Atlanta based accounting
firm, Moore Colson, recently announced the hiring of Steven E.
Murphy, CPA, as a manager in its tax services practice. Moore
Colson, founded in 1981, is a full-service firm located in Atlanta,
Georgia, providing tax and assurance services, real estate services,
management consulting services, estate and financial services,
lender advisory services and IT audit services.
Prior to joining the Moore Colson family, Steven was employed with
Bennett Thrasher, PC where he also served as a Tax Manager working
with closely held clients. Steven began his career in Atlanta with
Arthur Andersen, where he worked in the firm’s Mergers and
Acquisitions group. He then spent two years with Deloitte and Touche,
LLC, working primarily with middle market clients. A graduate of
University of Georgia, Steven has a BA in Accounting and a Masters
of Accounting, Tax Specialization.
Steven has over eight years experience with expertise in tax
compliance and consulting for individuals, corporations,
s-corporations and partnerships. Steven also has an extensive
background working with the preparation and review of FAS 109
workpapers for privately and publicly held companies, as well as
mergers and acquisitions including stock sales, asset sales and
selection 338(h)(10) elections.
Steven is involved in professional organizations including the
American Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Georgia
Society of Certified Public Accountants. Steven and his wife Jean
Ann reside in East Cobb, and are active members of Marietta First
United Methodist Church. Steven is a life member of the University
of Georgia Alumni Association.
