Moore Colson CPAs Presents Annual Firm Achievement Award at The University of Georgia’s J.M. Tull School of Accounting Honors Banquet

Atlanta, Georgia (April 28, 2009) – Atlanta based Moore Colson, CPAs, presented the firm’s annual Accounting Achievement Award to senior accounting student, James (Jay) D. Barefield, at the University of Georgia’s J.M. Tull School of Accounting Spring Honors Banquet, on April 23, 2009. The annual Accounting Banquet held at the Athens Classic Center, Athens, Georgia, recognizes 50 of the "best of the best" in the Tull School with various awards and scholarships. Faculty members from the Tull School are solely responsible for the selection of each student winner. Over 200 students, faculty/staff and firm representatives were in attendance. Moore Colson Estate and Financial Strategies Partner, Alex Kahn, and Steven Murphy, Senior Tax Manager, attended. Alex Kahn presented this year’s Moore Colson Scholarship to Jay Barefield, who also happens to be a 2009 Moore Colson summer intern.

The Moore Colson Accounting Achievement Award was established to recognize either a member or initiate of Beta Alpha Psi. The recipient must demonstrate great all around academic and personal skills and be someone who is considered to have the energy and insight necessary to provide future growth to the accounting profession.

Jay expects to graduate from The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting in May 2010. Jay currently has a 3.91 overall GPA and is an Academic All-American. He is the recipient of many awards including; The Margaret Pitts Academic Scholarship, Phi Theta Kappa Student Scholar Award, Gary Taylor Memorial Award, The Aramark Highest GPA Award, and The Andrew College Business Award. Jay received an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from Andrew College where he maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. Jay begins his professional summer internship with Moore Colson on May 26, 2009.
