Atlanta, Georgia (December, 2015) – Atlanta-based accounting firm, Moore Colson recently announced the winners of the firm’s coveted Peak Award. The third trimester 2015 winners are Jon Powell, CPA/CITP, CISA – Senior Manager in the firm’s Risk Advisory & Compliance Services Practice and Cristina Simpson – Senior Associate in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice. The runners-up are Adam Bateman – Tax Manager, Joe Wright – Tax Manager, Caroline Andrews – Business Assurance Senior Associate, and Alicia White – Tax Practice Administrator. The Moore Colson Peak Award is given to individuals each trimester, based on significant contributions to the firm and work performed that is considered above and beyond expectations or something unique that an individual brought to the firm which has made a significant impact.
Jon Powell, CPA/CITP, CISA is a Senior Manager in Moore Colson’s Risk Advisory & Compliance Services Practice. In addition to working on Sarbanes Oxley initiatives, SOC audits and other compliance engagements, Jon also performs in-charge responsibilities on the firm’s large IT and financial audit engagements, and leads Moore Colson’s data analytics initiatives by utilizing tools such as IDEA, ACL and Monarch. Jon was nominated for the Peak due to his outstanding client service capabilities across the board, as well as recent new business development efforts.
Jon also provides compliance work, internal control reporting, due diligence, IT auditing and general business consulting for firm clients in the software, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, and service industries.
Jon is a graduate of the University of Georgia, with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, 2005 and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, 2002. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP), and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA).
Cristina Simpson is a Senior Associate in the firm’s Business Assurance Practice and joined Moore Colson in 2014 after working for CohnReznick, Atlanta for the previous three years. Cristina also worked as an intern with CohnReznick in 2009 and was hired as an Audit Associate in 2011. In 2013 she was promoted to Senior Audit Associate. At Moore Colson, Cristina is responsible for performing all aspects of annual audits including determining audit and fraud risks, planning and performing audit procedures, and drafting financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Cristina was nominated for the Peak award due to her client preparation skills and outstanding service abilities.
Cristina is a graduate of the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and member of the Dean’s List. She is also a charter member of member of Beta Phi Chapter of Pi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity Inc. and member of the National Association of Black Accountants.
