September Gross Sales and Use Tax Collections Increase | Motor Fuel Tax Collections Down
- Georgia’s September gross sales and use tax collections increased by $39.2 million over last year, for a total of nearly $1.05 billion. Net sales and use tax for the month decreased by nearly $5.3 million, compared to last year, for a total of $514.1 million. The adjusted sales tax distribution to local governments totaled $528.3 million, for an increase of roughly $34.2 million over last fiscal year.
- The Georgia Dept. of Revenue reports that the motor fuel tax collections during the month of September declined by $3.9 million, for a total of $164.8 million in fiscal year 2019. In addition, the motor vehicle tag and title fee collections fell by 2% in September to roughly $29.2 million, compared to September 2018, when motor vehicle fees totaled $29.8 million.
